Founded in the year 1996 by Dr Radha S Murthy has set up a Medical Trust to help and support to the elders who are physically and emotionally weak. Their office is located in RT Nagar with 150 medical and Paramedical personnel. It offers qualified and experienced doctors, paramedics and nurses on call 24/7.
Nightingale Medical Trust (NMT) is a non - governmental charitable organization tailored to provide easily accessible, affordable services to meet the physical, emotional, economic and social requirement of the elderly. Under NMT she has kicked off a day care center for the elderly - first of its kind in the country.
NMT joined hands with the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) to establish a similar facility for those from underprivileged backgrounds - Sandhya Kirana, here from mid-day meals to income generating schemes the financially disadvantaged started various economic initiatives for the aged belonging to all economic classes.
Dr Radha also started an elders helpline a joint effort by NMT and Bangalore City Police. The toll free number 1090 is dedicated to help elders in distress has a team of committed social workers, counselors, legal professionals and police working behind it.
The group caters to age group between 65 to 95 years. The government has authorized NMT to issue ID-cards to senior citizens above 60 years of age, which would guarantee them various benefits at hospitals, labs, medical stores and transport facilities.
